How far would a 40,000- 50,000 US dollars sallary go living in the Dominican Republic?
I am just doing a little research on it. Specifically in Santa Domingo, in what I think is called the "swiss quarter" sorry if that part doesn't make any sense. Would it be comfortable to live on compared to lets say, Austin, Texas or would it be comparable? My definition of comfortable by the way is sort of like the ability to have internet access, a mobile phone, a decent house/apartment, a car (this matters less) and things like that.

i'm dominican and i tell you this from experience...its not that is completely cheap to live over there however with a salary like that you will not have any problems with material things...either with food, and its better to(organic) ;)

You can live good... not a lavish lifestyle but like a well paid citizen.

To live in Santo Domingo with 50.000 US (1.800.000 pesos) you can live very well! With that salary you can easely live in the center like the Piantini or Bella Vista areas or similar. If more info needed just ask.
