well i have always thought 6 inches and its unlegal. but i am not sure in your state and why in the world would you chance doing this is couple places that you shouldn't be? i would call the dps peple and ask them.

I'm not sure about an airport, but everywhere else that I can think of pocket knives are legal.

Yes, it is legal to carry a swiss army knife, but you may not take one on an airplane in your pocket or your carry on baggage. It is also not allowed in a school building.
4 :
Yes. Not at the airport though.

What are you nuts? You can carry it in your pocket in most places except airports, courthouses, police stations and places where knives and guns are prohibited.

It is not legal to have it in any transportation terminal in Los Angeles, including the airport and metro stations. It is not legal to have it on any school property either. If you are under 18 and are caught, you can have some pretty nasty repercussions like: losing your driver's license until you are 21, discipline at school (even if NOT caught at school) which includes expulsion, and a felony conviction which can keep you from getting financial aid for college.

I think a 3" blade(pocket knife)is pretty much legal anywhere.Airports...I WOULDN'T EVEN CONSIDER IT.Under 18 ask the nearest cop before you do.

Mine was taken away for jury duty. Mine was taken as a key chain at the Philadelphia airport. Mine was taken away while getting my fingerprints taken for a job in SC. They are out of control. I keep the Swiss army knives I have in my car or home.

It all depends. Some jurisdictions have restrictions on the length of the blade, but all have restrictions on how you carry it. Generally if you carry it in your pocket you are ok, but if you carry it between your girlfriend's shoulder blades, you have a problem.

It is legal to purchase and own a pocket knife, (no bigger than 3-5 inches in length,) in most states. However, there are legal restrictions regarding, concealment, locking mechanisms, and areas in which they can be carried, ie. airports, schools, etc.

Some states allow 3 inches, some allow 6 inches, when the blade is open and the entire handle and blade reach the limit of 6 inches then it is legal, if it is more than the legal limit, you've broken the law, as if at an airport, you must not have one at all, it is consider an illegal weapon and IS not allowed at any airport. If your under the age of 18, then it is not illegal, Unless your PARENTS DO NOT APPROVE OF IT, YOU SHOULD NOT CARRY IT AROUND.Ooops hit the wrong button, OK! Have a safe Thanksgiving

any type of knife that you decide to buy from a retailer like wal-mart, pawnshops, etc. is lawful ,nothing is illegal about your purchase but when you leave the store with your knife and get caught with the knife in your possession then it becomes an illegal act and you can be charged for a crime.every states laws 'vary.its kinda like buying rolling papers, its not illegal to sell them to you, but when you leave the store with your papers and get stopped by the police and they find the papers you can be charged for possession of paraphernalia a crime. is this fair"?why should the store be able to sell products to the public and never be charged themselves?(go figure) and if you can get an answer that i mite be able to understand please let me know..ok!@.

Yes, under 2 inches is cali-legal. In an airport--not if you plan on going through any metal detectors and especially not if you are getting on a plane. Under 18--normally you wouldn't get in trouble with a swiss army knife. Check out the site below--they have a page that gives some more info about states and knife laws. It is on their FAQ link.

A swiss army knife is a folding knife with a blade which does not lock in position. No California law regulates knife possession by age. No California law prohibits possessing such a knife anywhere. Pen C 12020 prohibits the concealed possession of dirks or daggers, but that applies only to fixed blade knives, or knives with a blade locked in position. Pen C 653k prohibits the possession of switchblades with blades longer than two inches. Pen C 171.5 which prohibits the possession of some weapons in the "sterile area" of an airport or port, applies only to knives which lock in position and have a blade longer than 4 inches. There is no other law applicable to airports alone. Pen C 626.10, which regulates weapons at schools, prohibits only dirks and daggers (i.e., fixed blade knives), knives with blades longer than 2.5 inches or folding knives which lock in position. Pen C 171b, applicable in public buildings, applies only to knives with blades over 4 inches long and with a fixed or lockable blade. Do not trust any answer which does not cite you to a statute which prohibits possession of a knife. (Note, however, that local school regulations might prohibit knife possession on campus--but that is not a state law and is not a crime. And, of course, federal regulations will prohibit carrying it on an airplane.)
