Do the swiss have to deal with?
a lot of gossip in small cities? i live in a city with 100 thousand people, and it´s really annoying how people talk about each other so i dont know how i would manage to live in towns with 20 thousand people lol.. is it true that there isnt a lot of it in Switzerland because many people are foreigners or does it happen as well? actually i was thinking more of Geneva lol

The smaller the town, the more gossip there is. Take this as a general rule the world over. So, there is of course gossip in Switzerland, too. As you're from a town with 100'000 people: Come to Zurich, the biggest town in Willy Tell's own country; it counts almost 400'000 people or even a million if you count all the suburbs.

Keep your nose clean and don't sleep with everyone and their mates and you should be fine. ie....don't give anyone a reason to say anything negative....same applies for your hometown.

It's human nature to gossip. I'm tipping there's a fair bit of politics going on in Geneva -- just a guess -- and from what I know about Zürich, there's nothing I've seen so elevated about the Swiss national character -- or ineed of any of the many international folk here -- that removes them from the temptation to gossip about how who got what job who's office is bigger what they're building over there who's paying for it who's husband got a job over at company x just three weeks after so-and-so started here blah-blah-blah. Human nature. The Swiss are humans too as are all the people who come here.

I'm from a small swiss village of 2200 people and I'm involved in village politics. And yes, people sure do gossip. Gossip is about the usual stuff as in most places. Though I've lived in 3 other countries before and I can say what differs is that I feel gossip here is more amusing rather than destructive. People chit chat gossip, its never really used to take people down as I've observed in other places. It seems to be done more out of boredom than anything else. But we are humans too, its in our nature to gossip.

Just stay away from Zurich and you'll be fine. that <city> (would be considered as town in other countries) is just full of arrogant people that think they lived in NY or something.
