Should I join the army?
I am Swiss, but I live in France. We have conscription in Switzerland (It is obligatory to join the army). Should I go back to Switzerland and join the army at the age of 18? I don't have to join if I stay in France.

Go home and serve. Why would anyone want to stay in France?

The question you have to ask yourself is, do you want to fight for your country?

my husband was in the french army. he hated it. you can always choose community service instead. dont do it!

What advantages would there be for you in doing so? What would you give up? Create the scales in your mind and discover an answer.

It is entirely up to you. Would you be happy if you did? If not then don't go back and serve.

Yea, the military program they have there is great for executive decision making and you'll learn effective leadership skills. Before you go though, ask if you'll be able to afford the return home. If living in France is more important and more valuable then stick it out. There's nothing worse than second-guessing such a major life decision and getting it wrong.

no don't join the army you should not have to fight this war! War is all about killing your life will be on the line every day!

Stay in France if you don't want to join and if you must join, join up with the home team.

That is a decision you have to make for youself, based on your moral stance

If you genuinely want to and think you'll enjoy it go with it.

i don't think u shud join the army because if you take a look at wars that are going on right now do you seriously think the wars are for fighting terrorists or terrorism. dese days armries are bulit upon the intrest of government not for the security of people. if you seriously wana serve in sum service i wud suggest go join police dat way you could clean the inner dirt rather than getting dirty by urself in the war. over all before you go i wud suggest do a deep study n den decide.

I'd say no. I've been in the military and I've been homeless in the street. I liked homeless better.

GO BACK AND SERVE YOUR COUNTRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you ever plan to live in Switzerland again, and take advantage of any social benefits offered there, then you should do your duty and serve your time. If you plan to live in France-or elsewhere-forever, you should not feel obligated.

I am not sure why you are asking anyone else if you should go home to Switzerland and join the army. You seem to have doubts but I can tell you is my experienced with the U.S. military. I do believe that every young man and woman should serve in the military. The process benefits both yourself and your country, assuming you are proud of your country. In the U.S., the young people have slowly and surely lost their common senses, responsibilities, and self respect. No respect for others and no sense of respect for lives. Back to your question, do what your heart and mind tells you. Good luck.

This is something only u can answer.I can give u questions that u should ask yourself before u make up your mind.Like do u want to go there because u want to or because u think it is your duty.If it's because u think it's your duty then u will have a very rough road ahead of u. Are u leaving a gf behind? If so do u really want to do this? Why are u doing this if u do go. Do u even beleive in this war that is going on? Good luck hon.

I would say if you are not willing to stand up for freedom then you do not deserve it. I am an American. The USA has it's issues but it is my home, where my family and friends live. I also enjoy a decent way of life. If I am not prepared to sacrifice a few years of my personal freedom so my family, friends, and myself can continue to enjoy a freedom and security then who will? There are bad and evil people in the world that bet on people being too motivated by self-interest to fight for their own way of life. This concept applies to ANY freedom loving people American, French, Swiss or anyone else. France or Switzerland may not be in any imminent danger but preparedness is a deterrence to any enemy.
