growing swiss chard

growing swiss chard?
My swiss chard overwintered fine ( I live in central London and it was mild) but the dry April means its all running to seed. I've cut the tips (forming seed heads) off but that just seems to produce lots more heads further down. Is the best solution to cut right back to the base, to grow a new plant from the rootstock or should I pull them up and start from scratch with new seed? If I let them bolt will the seed that developes appear quickly enough to re sow before summer?

I would never attempt to overwinter chard. Its so easy to grow just start a new batch with seed that you buy as they are most generally treated for some diseases.
