(HELP!) If I live out in the sticks and already have satellite Internet, is there a way I can change..?
Change my provider WITHOUT the $300 or more hardware switch? My parents made the mistake of buying WildBlue Internet, and I've been regretting it ever since. I don't know if I can convince them to change, because "it works for them", but I want to know my options if I can. For specific info, I live in Swiss Valley in Dubuque, IA. Neither AT&T or Verizon run out here--they're both broadband based services, and the nearest broadband box is twenty miles out--in Peosta. No line is going to be run down our road for a while--but I can't STAND Dial-Up. Unless I've misinterpreted something about how the real high-speed networks work, is there anything else I can do?

Wireless broadband - which runs on the cellular telephone network - but it's slow and you're limited in ow much you can download per month before being charged extra. You could go with another satellite provider, but the hardware you have probably won't work on their system (which is deliberate, so they can sell you their equipment).
