How can an American citizen marry a Swiss citizen who is living in the UK

How can an American citizen marry a Swiss citizen who is living in the UK?
I am an American engaged to a Swiss man who is currently living in the UK. What is the most convenient way for us to get married and then for me to immigrate the UK to live with him? If we get married in the States will he have to have a special visa? And how do I get my visa to live and work in the UK? We plan on getting married in the States, and then returning to the UK soon after. As a Swiss citizen, he has the same rights as someone in the EU, in terms of residing and working in the UK. I will need a visa (as his family member) in order to work, just not sure how to go about getting it.

In terms of the UK, you do not provide sufficient details, so it would be best for you to carefully read the information at the following site: http://www.ind.homeoffice.gov.uk/applying/generalcaseworking/marriageorregisteringcivilpartne In terms of the US, to follow the law, if the purpose of his visit to the US is to marry you, he will need a Fiancee Visa (K1). You may file a petition with USCIS on his behalf. After the visa petition is approved, he may request that he obtain his visa at the U.S. Embassy or consulate abroad. NOTE: If you are not planning to reside in the US in the near future, then it would be better to marry overseas, then petition for your husband when you do plan to return to the US. Otherwise, he runs the risk of being considered to have abandoned his US status - you will then need to re-petition for him.
