What is the standard of living in the Swiss Alps?
Is it expensive? like food costs, utilities, buying land, building a home, raising kids, etc? I would just love to live there one day to give my future kids a real childhood, free of the Playstation world that has gripped so many of today's generation. My question is in a "future tense." I am not married, nor do I have kids yet. But swiss kids actually have beautiful surroundings to play in. I would rather have that, than what my father called "The Idiot Box."

If you don't have Swiss nationality, you can't just move your family there and buy a house. Sorry, it doesn't work that way. Swiss kids also love video games so sorry, maybe you should focus your efforts on parenting.

Trust me it´s EXPENSIVE!

WOW! I hope you would move there some time! It should be eavenly up there. It's my dream to live in Europe, particularly Switzerland. P.S. As to video games, I think avoiding them depends on you. I agree with one of the answerers that said they like it too. You just have to show them there is fun stuff outside. As long as you're not in downtown New York (LOL!) or in the middle of a desert in Texas, you're fine. Though Europe and the Swiss Alps are always 'the ideal place' to live obviously! Good food, good environment, good education, etc!

Switzerland = Beautiful Switzerland = Expensive, and getting more so US Dollar = Falling rapidly compared to Euro (or Swiss Francs, if they haven't converted) Switzerland invaded by a bunch of US people = not Switzerland. There's a lot of America that isn't urban squalor or suburban sprawl. ... and you don't have to learn German, French and Italian.
