Visa in China for SWISS people

Visa in China for SWISS people?
I am a Swiss guy living in Thailand. Next month I am going to go to China for about 6-8 days. Do I need a visa for that? Could you please tell me more about it? Thank you very much in advance for your help

You will need a visa to visit Mainland China, yes. For a 6-8 day stay, you will just need a tourist visa -- generally this is just a matter of paying a fee and turning in a form and a photo of yourself. Contact the Chinese embassy in Thailand (you should be able to process your visa from there) and ask them for the required forms. Remember, once you're in China, you're legally required to report where you're staying to the Public Security Bureau. If you're staying in hotels or hostels, they will take care of this for you, but if you're staying with family or friends, be sure they're aware of this. Many people ignore it and don't get in any trouble, and the worst punishment you face is a relatively small fine, but it is technically against the law. All foreigners who wish to enter China must obtain a Chinese visa first. You may apply for a Chinese visa at any Chinese embassy or consulate worldwide.
